As the Founder of Healing Lotus Mental Health, Surbhi believes that everyone can benefit from mental health therapy. Our society has normalized having a primary care physician and a dentist on file for preventative check-ups but where are our preventative mental health check ups? At Healing Lotus Mental Health, we make your mental health our priority by providing a safe and welcoming space to explore your thoughts, feelings, and emotions which can allow you to bloom from within. If you are seeking an experienced, knowledgeable, and compassionate therapist who will work with you to ensure that you reach your mental health goals, then Surbhi just might be who you have been searching for.

My Education & Experience
As a South Asian female and New Jersey native, I have a passion to serve BIPOC clients whose past generations thought of therapy as a taboo. I specialize in clients who may be suffering from anxiety, depression, life transitions, intergenerational trauma, school avoidance, executive functioning concerns, women's issues and family issues including couples counseling.
I earned my Bachelors of Science at Rutgers University in New Brunswick, NJ and my Masters in Counseling Psychology and School Counselor certificate from Centenary University in Hackettstown, NJ. Prior to earning my LPC in 2018, I worked in public education for over 10 years with a majority of those years being a school counselor (formerly known as a guidance counselor). I pride myself in saying that children who are often resistant to therapy often end up looking forward to coming to sessions shortly thereafter. I work at the child's pace and give them room to grow rather than drown them in uncomfortable questions poking for information. I hope to build an organic rapport built on trust, which often goes a long way in the client's mental health journey.
There is no right or wrong way to parent but if you feel that your child may not be ready for therapy, you can always sign up for parent coaching sessions. These sessions are ideal when you are simply looking for a non-bias point of view that can help create options that may not have been as apparent to you. These sessions also may help you understand why you "parent" the way you do and what method would be best for your needs and your child's needs.
I also specialize in working with couples who are either still together and trying to work on their union, divorced couples looking on how to co-parent or premarital counseling to help individuals gain the confidence in taking their relationship to the next step...or not!
